I help companies create valuable customer experiences through graphic design and interactive tools. Most of my work has been in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. I have experience providing design solutions for agencies, big brands, high-tech companies, non-profits and small startups (see my client list). When not doing work-for-hire I’m usually trying to tire out my four-year-old at the park, work on my eco-retreat side project Casa Xixim, tend to my veggie garden, or scheme my next permaculture project.
I’m a hands-on Creative Director who can deliver visual design, ux, product, social media and marketing solutions or can lead/mentor a multidisciplinary team of designers, writers, usability specialists and technologists. I ask a lot of questions, mostly, “Why?”. I believe in an iterative process that involves key stakeholders. I’ve worked in teams that utilize Agile Methodology, or with groups on the other extreme who for better or worse tend to fly by the seat of their pants. In either case, I bring solid experience that grounds the design process.
I believe design can create positive social and environmental change that benefits our communities, therefor I have chosen to wield my secret design powers selectively. I’m inspired by projects playing a catalytic role in building a more just and sustainable world. I’ve combined my formal design education from CCA with the principles and ethics of Urban Permaculture Design. Permaculture is a creative design process which guides us to mimic the patterns and relationships we can find in nature and can be applied to all aspects of human habitation, from agriculture to ecological building, from appropriate technology to education and even economics.
